The African Caribbean Research Group is proud to support the Cambridge Premiere of Milestone: Streets paved with gold, a film by award-winning actor Victor Richards.
Milestone: Streets paved with gold is a powerful new film honouring the Windrush generation and the Caribbean migration experience in Britain. Adapted from Victor Richards’ acclaimed one-man play, this 60-minute cinematic journey follows Augustus Cleveland Johnson from his 1948 arrival in England through decades of resilience, family, culture and identity. Blending voice-overs, vivid recreations and historical archives, the film immerses viewers in a heartfelt tribute to a generation that helped shape modern Britain. Filmed across Leicester and the Midlands, it’s a moving, sensory celebration of Caribbean-British heritage.
Dr Carol Brown-Leonardi said: “We are proud to support this powerful screening in Cambridge, celebrating Caribbean voices and shared cultural histories.”
The screening will take place on Sunday, 21 June 2026 from 4pm at the Art Picturehouse, 38-39 St Andrew’s Street, Cambridge CB2 3AR. The film will be followed by a Q&A with Victor Richards and a guest speaker (TBC).
